- Driver & Passenger Windows: Must meet the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 205, glass when affixed with a glazing material must not read less than 70% VLT.
- Rear Side Door Windows: Any VLT, no regulation stated.
- Rear Windshield: Any VLT, no regulation stated. Delaware’s window tinting law does specify: Rear window mounted brake lights on vehicle models 1986 or later shall be clear of material.

Windshield
Window film is allowed to be installed on uppermost 5 inches of the windshield or to the AS-1 line if marked with transparent material only.
Driver & Passenger Door Windows
Must meet the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 205, glass when affixed with a glazing material must not read less than 70% VLT.
Rear Side Door Window
Any VLT, no regulation stated.
Rear Windshield
Any VLT, no regulation stated. Delaware’s window tinting law does specify: Rear window mounted brake lights on vehicle models 1986 or later shall be clear of material.

What Is Delaware’s Law on Film Reflectivity
§4313 is not clear on reflectivity of the film, please refer to local legislation prior to having a film reflective in nature applied. Highly reflective film will have a mirrored finish and can be potentially blinding to other drivers. Most modern automotive window films are non-reflective in nature and do not cause any road disturbances.

§4313 is unclear about any color restrictions, please refer to local legislation prior to having any film colorful in nature applied.
Laws & Regulations on State Required Compliance Stickers
Some states may require the installing company to apply a compliance sticker to validate legality, while others may require you to retain possession of the original receipt proving what was installed.
Does Delaware Have Any Regulations for Compliance
Delaware does not require a label or receipt to be retained for compliance, but a certification can be obtained by the Division of Motor Vehicles showing they have examined the motor vehicle and certifying its compliance with FMVSS 205.

There are some states that have a window tint tolerance incorporated into the written law. In most cases this is recognized as a plus or minus percentage that is allowed as a fluctuation for the darkness of the installed film and the glass it’s bonded to together.
Does Delaware Have a Recognized Tolerance
In Delaware, the driver and passenger door windows must meet the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 205. This Clause follows the normal manufacture tolerance of plus or minus 3%.

This is usually granted to drivers that suffer from severe light sensitivity or other health issues related to direct sunlight or glare.

Yes, Delaware does recognize an exemption to window tint regulations if the person possesses a statement signed by a licensed practitioner of medicine verifying that tinted windows are medically necessary for the owner or usual operator.
