  • Rear Side Door Windows: No darker than 35% VLT.
  • Rear Windshield: No darker than 35% VLT.

Windshield

Topmost portion of windshield is permitted film only if AS-1 line is marked. Material must not extend past the AS-1 line.

Driver & Passenger Door Windows

Must not have window film any darker than 50% VLT installed on the driver and passenger windows.

Rear Side Door Window

Must not have window film any darker than 35% VLT installed on side windows rear of driver and passenger windows.

Rear Windshield

Must not have window film any darker than 35% VLT installed on rear windshield.

What Is Wisconsin’s Law on Film Reflectivity

According to §305.32, film applied to vehicle on a public roadway cannot be reflective. Highly reflective film will have a mirrored finish and can be potentially blinding to other drivers. Most modern automotive window films are non-reflective in nature and do not cause any road disturbances.

Does Wisconsin Have Restrictions on The Color of Window Tint

§305.32 does not state any regulations against specific colored window film. Please refer to your local legislation prior to having film colorful in nature applied to your vehicle.

Some states may require the installing company to apply a compliance sticker to validate legality, while others may require you to retain possession of the original receipt proving what was installed.

Yes, Wisconsin may waive the state’s window tinting standard for individuals who suffer from health or medical issues due to exposure to the sun or light. A certification from a licensed physician must be kept in the vehicle at all times.
